Energy East Pipeline http://www.energyeastpipeline.com proposes to convert sections of the 40 year old Trans Canada Natural Gas Pipeline to handle the movement of crude oil 4400 kms to the East Coast of Canada. The project claims that it will help off set the Saudi Arabian influenced oil economy while providing relief for our truck and railway shipping lanes. While the Council of Canadians has it's position and presents many valid points. http://canadians.org/energyeast Our ability to maintain and protect our environment utilizing sections of an aging pipeline are in question.
Recent incidents which occurred less than 2 years ago in North Dakota and near Yellowstone where 2 separate oil crude pipelines burst within a week of each other. These regions are still dealing with the impact.

The Keystone XL pipeline is full of controversy. In US senate and congress, the keystone pipeline has made it through approval 2 (or more) times now.
