On Feb 4th, 2016, our Canadian government representatives signed into agreement with the Trans Pacific Partnership. While if you ask the average Canadian about the deal, they will respond with little understanding of what is involved in this
6000+ page agreement . Is there any wonder why? Has anyone had the time to read and fully comprehend it's "take it, or leave it" terms, or potential impact?
The Global Development and Environment Institute’s Tufts University study has produced a paper which show nearly negligible increase in Canadian GDP growth as a result of the partnership. While indicating the potential for massive loss in job numbers and employment in their executive summary as a result. Leading one to question why our current representatives are so eager to
ratify the agreement? If the agreement is meant to increase profit mobility, the question remains, to where will these profits be going?
Additionally, and most concerning to this reporter, are the sweeping changes to the Canadian domain system and intellectual property rights and freedoms which we currently enjoy. See article >>
